MINISTRY DESCRIPTION
The scope of the ministry God has
given us is tremendous. We are launching a national women's outreach magazine called
"Women in Focus," which will reach into Muslim and Hindu homes. We are
designing the magazine to be an indigenous work eventually fully funding itself and the
"Women in Focus" television program scheduled to be aired in the seven
major cities of India. It's our goal for the magazine and television ministry to provide
scholarships for women and subsidize in part the fees at the women's Bible college in KPV,
Tamilnadu where I was based and taught last term. We have laid a ten-year indigenous plan
to bring these ministries to a fully self-supporting basis, which will be a wonderful gift
to the Indian church.
Our outreach to women is at several
different levels including women's crusades (throughout India and surrounding countries),
training camps for women, through Gatekeepers, a program for men in
leadership, and also teaching at area Bible colleges influencing the next leadership
generation in outreach to and through women. It's our desire through the "Women in
Focus" Evangelism ministries to enlarge the outreach vision of the national church to
the far-reaching problems of female infanticide, child prostitution, dowry deaths, and
abuse of women in India. India is the second largest nation in the world with one billion
people of which only four percent are Christians.
We hosted the first-ever National
Women's Conference in October 2004, which included men and women giving special attention
to specific issues and challenges faced by women in ministry. A ministry manual called
"Mobilizing Women in Ministry" was produced by our national leaders in English
and Tamil, which provides a ministry model for women in the Tamilnadu District. The
Tamilnadu District Superintendent has been training and graduating women from a
"House Church Training Program" to serve as elders/pastors of house churches in
Tamilnadu. Tamilnadu is a model district, where the number of churches has grown from 200
in 1990 to over 1000 churches today. Women are serving as pastors/elders of outreach
stations and house churches in his fast growing district. We are partnering with Him in
this task of releasing workers into the harvest field so that by every means possible this
gospel may be preached.
